June 2009: Peter Hartmann (a Fellow of NSA) wins the Rank Prize for Nutrition Peter’s work has contributed strongly to our understanding of human lactation. One of his most creative contributions (in collaboration with computing expert Robyn Owens) was a sophisticated non-invasive technique for estimating the rate of emptying the breast as the baby feeds. For this – and a whole suite of related work – Peter has shared this prestigious prize with Robyn. See the story at We congratulate Peter and Robyn on this richly-deserved award.
