Conference 200629 November - 2 December 2006The 30th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Nutrition Society of Australia was held at The University of New South Wales, situated in the beautiful eastern suburbs of Sydney.
The theme of the conference was "Nutrition through the Life Cycle" covering nutrition in utero; nutrition in pregnancy; childhood, adolescence to old age as plenary topics along with other key topics such as nutrition for indigenous propluations; nutritional implications of resistant starch in the diet for animals and humans; bioactives in foods - their composition and activity; symposia by experts on micronutrients such as zinc, selenium and folate; plus a dedicated plenary session on iodine and health. There was also be a symposium on "Comparative Nutrition: Production animals relevant to human nutrition". Forty-four invited scientists from Australia and overseas spoke in both plenary sessions and symposia throughout the conference. The student masterclass featured a workshop on "Nutrient databases" particularly put together for students.
